If you'd told me twenty years ago that I'd be standing in a quiet industrial park in Dandong, Liaoning, pressed up against a glass partition watching Chinese watchmakers assemble mechanical movements — and that I'd be doing it as part of my job — I would have laughed. And yet here I am this week, a little jet-lagged, a little cold, holding my phone up to the glass and trying not to look like a total tourist.
